  • 1948: Formation of ELPO GmbH in Altdorf, near Nuremberg, by Jakob Ellenberger and Harald A. Poensgen.
  • 1953: Launch of the E-T-A Circuit Breakers for Equipment (CBEs) protection program.
  • 1955: Overseas expansion: establishment of a subsidiary company in Chicago/USA.
  • 1957: Further expansion with establishment of a subsidiary company in Montreal/Canada.
  • 1969: Formation of the electronic division leads to innovations in protection and control technology.
  • 1976: Formation of E-T-A Circuit Breakers Ltd. in the UK.
  • 1977: Commencement of production of E-T-A CBEs in Tunisia.
  • 1978: "ELPO" is renamed "E-T-A".
  • 1980s: Formation of subsidiaries in Austria, France, Spain, Belgium and Italy.
  • 1991: Expansion of manufacturing capability with inauguration of new plant in Altdorf.
  • 1993: ISO 9001 Certification.
  • 1994: Formation of subsidiary in Japan.
  • 1997: Manufacturing plant opened in Rembang/Indonesia to serve the rapidly growing South East Asia market.
  • 1998: E-T-A Germany celebrates its 50th anniversary.
  • 2002: E-T-A accredited to ISO 9001: 2000 and EN 9100.
  • 2005: E-T-A North America celebrates its 50th anniversary.
  • 2006: E-T-A Quality Management System certified to ISO/TS 16949:2002.
