The founders: Jakob Ellenberger and Harald A. Poensgen

  • 1948: formation of ELPO GmbH in Altdorf, near Nuremberg, by Jakob Ellenberger
               and Harald A. Poensgen
  • 1953: launch of the E-T-A Circuit Breakers for Equipment (CBEs) protection
               programme
  • 1955 and 1957: Overseas expansion – establishment of subsidiary companies
                                  in Chicago/USA and Montreal/Canada
  • 1962: opening of manufacturing plant in Hohenfels/Germany
  • 1969: formation of the electronic division leads to innovations in protection and
               control technology
  • 1976: formation of E-T-A Circuit Breakers Ltd. in the UK
  • 1977: commencement of production of E-T-A CBEs in Tunisia
  • 1978: forrmation of E-T-A Elektrotechnische Apparate GmbH
  • 1980s and early 1990s: formation of subsidiaries in Austria, Spain, Belgium, Italy
                                                and France
  • 1991: expansion of manufacturing capability with inauguration of new plant
               in Altdorf.
  • 1993: ISO 9001 Certification.
  • 1994: formation of subsidiary in Japan.
  • 1997: manufacturing plant opened in Pasaruan/Indonesia to serve the rapidly
               growing South East Asia market
               formation of E-T-A Asia Pacific in Singapore
  • 1998: E-T-A celebrates its 50th anniversary - and its continuing growth...
  • 2002: E-T-A certified to the new DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and DIN EN 9100
  • 2005: formation of E-T-A Australia, China and Thailand
  • 2006: E-T-A Quality Management System certified to ISO/TS 16949:2002
               opening of the new logistics center in Altdorf
  • 2007: formation of E-T-A Russia
  • 2008: manufacturing plant opened in Surabaya/Indonesia
